Couples' Devices That Feel Approachable From the First Try
Three devices, one twisting design language
Promescent, a sexual wellness brand founded by a urologist, wanted to expand into devices for couples. In 2023, we designed an entry-level line of three: a rabbit vibrator, a bullet and a vibrating ring.
Overview
Bringing a clinical brand into play
Promescent built its name on clinical credibility. Moving into intimate devices meant earning the same trust with something new. Entry-level users need products that look approachable, feel comfortable and are easy to control.
Key successes
- Designed three devices, all added to the client's product line
- Built dozens of prototypes to reach the final forms
- Created one twisting design language shared across the line
- Reviewed by theSkimm and featured by PinkNews
Approach
One twisting form language
We developed a twisting aesthetic for the whole line. It looks sculptural on a shelf, and in use it guides movement and keeps contact dynamic. Early studies explored both sharp geometric forms and soft organic ones. After dozens of prototypes, we refined the line toward the softer, organic shape.
The solution
Control built into every device
- Rabbit vibrator→a smaller head outside and a larger one inside, so users adjust depth without losing external contact
- Vibrating ring→an adjustable head and a stretchable strap for more control
- Bullet→a lipstick-shaped body with a curved tip for adjustable pressure
Impact
Added to the line, noticed by the press
Promescent added all three devices to its product line, priced from US$44.99 to US$54.99. They are sold on Promescent's site and at Walmart. theSkimm reviewed the rabbit vibrator, and PinkNews featured the bullet.
